A Review Of The Nutrisystem Wraps: Buffalo Chicken, Bar B Que Pork, And Southwest Chicken
I've been getting a lot of emails about the nutrisystem wraps. People want to know if they taste good, if the breading is soft, and which ones are the best to chose if you're going with a custom menu. I will try to address all of these concerns in the following article.
The Nutrisystem Wraps That Are Part Of Dinner On The Basic Plan: I find that when most people ask about these products, they are asking about the wraps that are part of the basic plan in the dinner portion. Below, I'll outline some of the selections along with taste, texture, and calorie, carb, sugar, and protein content.
The Buffalo Chicken Wrap: The whole idea of the this entree is to give you the taste of buffalo chicken wings in a food that is a healthier alternative. They've done a pretty good job of doing this. This meal is pretty spicy and the chicken is tender. It's a wheat tortilla though but the taste is not too overpowering and the bread is soft. This entree has 240 calories, only 2 grams of sugar, 25 grams of carbs, and a very respectable 23 grams of protein.
The Bar B Que Pork Wrap: Believe it or not, this one is my favorite. I really like that the meat is shredded. The sauce is really nice. I sometimes wish there was more sauce, but I understand why there can't be. You're going to be using the same whole wheat tortilla but you really do taste the bar b que meat more than anything else. This product has 260 calories, 22 grams of protein, and 31 grams of carbs. The sugar on this one is a bit higher because of the sauce (at 11 grams) but I think it's worth it. This wrap tastes very indulgent and I'd eat it even if I weren't on a diet.
Southwest Style Chicken Wrap: This entree really is indicative of Mexican food. There are black beans, spicy chicken, green peppers, black olives, and rice. Like most of the wraps, this one is spicy and has a definite kick. I also find that the toppings sort of spill out of this one, so I sometimes eat it with a fork. It has 240 calories, 37 grams of carbs, 14 grams of protein, and only 4 grams of sugar.
Vegetable Fajita: This is a good option for those on the vegetarian plan or for those who just want a meatless option. This too, is spicy and tastes very southwestern, although it does have some sweet corn in it to balance out the kick. This one has 230 calories, 31 grams of carbs, 21 grams of protein, and 7 grams of sugars. This one sort of lends itself to fat free sour cream and / or fat free cheese additions.
For the most part, all of these wraps are pretty good and some (the bar b que and buffalo chicken) are great. The texture is also decent (with soft bread) and these are quick and easy to make and eat. I like wraps anyway, whether I'm dieting or not, but I give the nutrisystem versions a thumbs up.
